Resources for Current Students

Academic Advising

All incoming M&T students will be assigned a faculty advisor in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and an advisor in the Wharton School. If M&T students have questions, it is often best to start at the M&T Office. In most cases, we will be able to assist you and if we cannot, we will be able to direct you to the appropriate advisor for assistance.

The Tutoring Center

The Tutoring Center offers Penn students a variety of options to supplement their academic experience. Tutorials are offered in several formats; individual sessions at satellite Tutoring Center locations, private tutorials, student-led workshops, and review sessions. The Tutoring Center’s services are free and can assist students in easily getting an A as opposed to struggling for B as one M&T put it. For more information on tutoring options, visit The Tutoring Center’s website.

Weingarten Learning Center

The Weingarten Learning Resources Center (WLRC) provides academic support services and programs for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students at the University of Pennsylvania through its two offices. Each year the WLRC provides students with a series of workshops to hone their academic skills in an ivy league environment. In the past, M&T students have found the following workshops beneficial: the 10 Best Study Strategies, Managing Your Time at Penn, Staying on Top of Your Reading, and Preparing for Exams. These workshops are offered several times in the fall semester to accommodate as many schedules as possible. In the spring semester, additional workshops are available including Planning Your New Semester, Staying on Top of Your Reading, Preparing for Midterms, Time Management After Spring Break, and Getting the Most Out of Reading Days. WLRC also offers workshop to help international students adjust to studying in the U.S. These workshops include Getting to Know a U.S. Classroom, Navigating Academic Resources at Penn, Academic Listening and Note Taking, Academic Speaking and Presentation, Academic Reading and Critical Thinking, and Academic Writing and Research Skills.
